Davenport University is a private, multi-location university with its main campus in Grand Rapids. It focuses on preparing students for the most in-demand, fastest-growing careers in business, health and technology.
Davenport was founded in Grand Rapids in 1866, just 16 years after the city was incorporated. The school evolved and expanded through the years, developing from a college offering only Associate degree programs to a fully-accredited university providing undergraduate, graduate and online degrees. Today, Davenport is the second largest private, non-profit institution of higher education in Michigan, with 11 campuses across the state.
Davenport University-Grand Rapids grants Bachelor degrees in more than 30 areas. It also offers the largest MBA program in Michigan, specializing in graduate business, technology and health degrees.
More than 13,000 students are enrolled at all Davenport locations and online. The average age of students is 31; 59% of students attend part time and 41% attend full time. The gender breakdown is 74% female/26% male. There is an average of 16 students per class.
Davenport offers 24 sports teams - 12 for men and 12 for women. It is a member of the NAIA and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference for all sports except men's and women's lacrosse, men's rugby and men's ice hockey.
The main Davenport campus is located on 54 acres in Caledonia, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids. Graduate courses are also offered at a downtown Grand Rapids location.
